Norm Wheeldon's Two Much
Discussion
I could not agree more! Norm is one of the finest engineers and innovators drag racing has, and the new car is a stunning testament to his skills. Good to see Herb involved and I will definetely be coming to see the car run. well done to all involved

Didn't the motors stop quick ? I remember thinking to myself at the time when he shut the motors down that they just stopped dead. I expected the noise to fade and the revs rise as the lines ran out of fuel like you get in a TMD/FC.
I see what you mean. That was like an ignition-kill stop rather than a lean-out stop. In the afternoon fire-up they leaned it out and like any decent race car it had a good long think about stopping
Great car, only in England..........
Question 1 : how are the engines coupled, are they joined at the cranks
or are both cranks coupled seperately to a shaft that enters the transmission ?
Question 2 : In which class is this allowed to run ?
I think in most (all?) classes the number of engines is limited to one.

From memory of past chats to Norm:

1) They are joined directly at the crank. I cannot remember which method of coupling he used, I remember someone telling me about an arrangement where two sprockets were used with a double roller chain going over both of them, a bit like this:

2) I would guess exhibition and the like, unless the supercharged outlaws see fit to let him in :-)

Has anyone got any video of Norm running the motors at Shakey last weekend??
Sorry Geoff for the delay but we have been a bit busy recently....http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DLNmmPpZSyY
Awesome is an often over used word but thats my best way of describing what it was like to be sat in Norms new ride during the fire ups.
In case you have not seen it yet theres also a write up on Draglist: http://www.draglist.com/artman2/publish/daily_stor...

Hi Herb,
You look as youthful as ever. I think we last saw each other was circa 1979. What a beautiful piece Norm has built. I take it you have been working with Norm to finish it off. The big question is, who is going to drive it?? Or does the queue start with you!!!!!
Say hi to Norm for me.
