I am ashamed.

I have been using the M5 for my daily commute, 50 mile round trips. It's a boring journey because of steady traffic and cameras everywhere. Due to this I've just been ambling along, not a care in the world stereo blaring. Can you imagine my horror and abject shame when, upon getting home today, I was fiddling with the satnav thingy and there in front of me were the words....

27.1MPG tumbleweed

I can only apologise and accept any punishment you see fit. judge

I promise this will never ever happen again frown

Thats quite good that!

I drove from London to Hartleypool in my E46 M3 with my wife the other day and back again. We were late for a wedding so hit some silly speeds where possible on the way up and the car average 31mpg. I was very impressed.

I'm considering swapping for an E39 M5 but the economy scares me a little as I live in central London.

OMG! How on earth...!? I don't think I've ever managed to get mine over 27mpg, if I'm pushing it properly it's normally under 20mpg. Admittedly that won't be motorway driving, but still, I'm impressed, kinda.

Before i changed the MAF's i got over 29mpg reading on the screen & that was the day i bought the car traveling from Southampton to Canterbury. Changed the MAF's , car goes a lot better but the highest i could get the mpg was 27.1 on a long motorway journey driving really carefully.

Simon.

I was pretty suprised myself. I did refuel a warm engine and it was 100% motorway but I wasn't being shy with the right foot when I could as we only got there with 5 mins to spare.

I would have expected 27/28 and only 30mpg if I was really trying for economy.
