Wheel Fender Protection

Anyone lined the underside of their fenders to protect from rocks? If so what did you use as I see I have 4 or 5 large star cracks in the gel coat from rocks being flung up from the wheels.

You are in a better place for this than we are in the UK.
I believe you have places where they can spray on a rubber coating to line the bed of your truck/pickup. This would be ideal.
Failing that there are rubber coatings to seal flat roofs of buildings.

Mkoch, the USA site admin had installed some foam core board into the fenders to give some added protection

Yes - I used Isoflex Liquid Rubber - usually used for covering roofs. It is a thickish black stuff that spreads quite nicely with a brush and produces a layer a couple of millimetres thick.

did your bodywork came with the white reinforcment layer that is visible from the inside in the fender area ?

I made fibreglass liners that are glassed in leaving an air gap (may be 5-10mm). I have no crazing where I have the protection.

Thats Core Matt, all ultima Bodies have them in places that are mainly flat.. helps hold the shape and stop warping of the body over time...

after reading this I came up with this solution that obviously is working quite well when driving the car
It is the standard tar mat they sell for sound deadening and I bought it for the alloy panels but did not use it for that purpose.

yes it adds some weight but I can assure that there was no harm on the accelaration or handling of the car. I have little to no noise from stones and that is very agreable. It works very well.

Suspect that after a few trips out to you local..next time you look you may well have invented...
