Puma - my first P&J

It's been two months since I got my Puma 1.4, and I've been taking good care of it!

Exhaust was blowing so put a new one on and did gearbox oil change, oil and filter, air filter, spark plugs.



I've discovered detailing! Bought some Maguiars clay and TechWax, spent hours making it shiny...




Yesterday I got the wet-vac and cleaned it inside...I was amazed at the result! It's addictive.





Yesterday I also steam cleaned the engine and underneath the car. Back to uni today in a very clean car!

Wow! Bonnet looks brand new. Must get some of that clay stuff as seems to get great results.

Never driven a Puma but a friend of mine used to love hers.

Great choice - a mate's girlfriend (now wife) used to have one (a 1.7). He ranked it damn close to his own car for driving pleasure - he had an Integra Type-R at the time.

What are they like on the long haul, up the motorway and stuff?

I've done 2000 miles in mine now, half of those on the motorway. It's great fun on the B roads and solid and responsive on the motorway. Although mine's only the 1.4, it still pull well and doesn't feel a hell of a lot slower than the 1.8 A3 I used to drive. It's the first car I've had that I still look round at when I walk away from it, and I think I always will. It may only be a thousand pound car, but I love it!

I love driving my girlfriend's 1.7L Puma. Much sharper than my CTRs were but doesn't inspire quite the same confidence at high speed. Good work with the detailing - never much into cleaning cars 'til the Elise came into my life...

Stupid question - whats a wet vac? My wifes car has water marks on the drivers seat that upholstery shampoo won't touch...

Basically you spray upholstery shampoo on the seat, then scrub at it a bit with a brush, and then 'wet vac' it. It's basically a hoover that sprays out water when you press a trigger, and sucks the water up as you go. Good bit of kit, and it'd certainly get the water stain out your wife's car seat. you'll be impressed with the result.
