For a Wedge, I reckon "rare" is 390SE (~100 in existence), any SEAC (<<100 about), 420SE.

350s and 400SEs are a bit more plentiful, as are 280s I think. 350FHC is a rare car. Still, they're all damned good cars and are just not fetching enough money right now...

But, compared to a Ford Mundaneo, or even a Chim dare I say it, theyre all like rocking horse poo.

Edit: lest it appear a sleight on those with a little 'X' in their lives, anything SX is also rather rare and commands good money.

thanks ed, it was this particular 280i in the add that i wondered what the phrase "rare" meant.....the model, or is it a special one !! "rare" seems to be a word banded around more than "mate" with the same amount of "tangible depth" and i was just hoping for clarity on that add.

That is a very good looking 280 and a bit of a bargain. As for rare.....it is one of 149 made in 1986 according to one of my books...so it's one of a fair few made in one year in TVR terms, but rare as rocking horse poo in a general motoring capacity....add to that...how many other 280's made in 1986 have survived? If the BHP figures are correct too then it's only 20BHP behind a 350......and TVR made 219 350's in 1986 if that helps to put it into perspective.

Enjoy the hunt!!
