Hi all,

I know it's a trivial question but I was wondering whether or not to carpet the cockpit floor before i fit the bodywork.
Common sense tells me that if I don't it will get scratched to bits by the time I have got in and out a few times.
What do you do, those that have bare ally. Do you take your shoes off each time!

I've carpeted mine. I figured that it would look a lot better and require less maintenance than bare ali on the floor which would scratch and look pretty naff without regular polishing. The sides and sills are still bare ali which I think looks best. The carpet should cut down the road noise a little too...don't want to drown out the chamber orchestra out back!

I did the carpeting just after a final polish of the ali sides long after the bodywork was finally mounted. It can be done any time basically. The earlier you do it the grubbier it will get and when you carpet the floor all the scratches on the ali floor disappear...

I also cut out a plain £2.50 rubber mat from halfords to fit the footwell round the pedals. Helps to stop heels sliding about when operating the pedals as well as being neat and hard wearing.

My ca's been on the road for over a year and have the floor carpeted up to the front of the seats...... and I have to admit that I would prefer the rest of the floor to be carpeted as I'm not really a lover of the look of the alloy floor.
The only reason I have not fully carpeted this yet is down to me selling the car and the next owner may prefer the alloy etc...

I put the rubber matt in with the pedals from word go and recommend it.....

Hello fellas,

Could the aluminium side panels be made from carbon fibre instead, if the factory was building a GTR or Can-Am?
