MAF sensor's dirty or you have a boost leak.

Had somthing similar when I had a 56 plate - do you get the engine management light? Mine was the MAP sensor, replaced under warranty at the time.

I take it that your problem is something like this: floor the throttle and the boost needle buries it's self in the end of the gauge, then the dump valve releases all the pressure?

I had this in mine - ford replaced the turbo under warranty!! apparently the bearing in the turbine side of the turbo was damaged!!!

Get it to Ford or a Ford independent - don't let them fob you off with an ECU re-flash (they did this to me and after a week it started again - OK so the car was stood for 4 days whilst I was unwell).

Saying that it could be a MAF/MAP sensor etc but you need to get it checked ASAP.

ETA: I had no engine warning lights of any sort.

yeah !!! when the car hits red for fuel, it cuts the power from the engine so you remember to fill up before you run out ! dint belive it to start with but it only ever happend when the car was on red !! would have been nice to have been told by the dealer mind !!!!!!

Hmm, sounds more like a fuel pump or design fault issue. I car that cuts power when the fuel is low??!! My old work van used to do that too when it was on fumes!!!!

I've heard of this before, not that I've ever experienced it when the fuel is under 25miles to go

i had this on a test drive on the way to the petrol station when salesman was driving, thoguht it was his inability to drive, except for the look on his face, it was reading 13 miles to go though... once it was fuelled was not an issue
