I've been living in Wolves for a few years. The last few days we've been hearing planes going over which we've not noticed before.

It's not a problem but just wondering whats changed? Flights in/out of B'ham or is the military flying some heavy jets into Cosford for some reason?

Anybody know?

It aint heavy jets into Cosford, trust me.

The pilot of the Boeing C17 transporter that landed there last year is still trying to pick the seat out of his arse. Not surprising seeing as the usual traffic using the metalled runway are Grob Tutors and Piper Warriors.

Had no idea a C17 landed at Cosford. Must have been a bugger on all 4.25 inches of runway

I'm near to Wolves (Bromsgrove, Worcestershire) and I've noticed this to. Saw a chinook probably going to selly oak for an injured soldier, had two very low passes from fast jets (didn't get out of the house in time to see what thy were) one was ridiculously low! Friday over Longbridge a Royal navy Lynx and Friday evening two spitfire looking aircraft over the house in formation. I've wondered this to. Unless its military stuff heading into LFA 7 (Wales) or Shawbury? OMG! a C-17 into Cosford!? fking hell, why?!redface

The C-17 was bringing in a new exhibit for the Cold War Museum there. Unfortunately, the vids have been removed from the tube but mrs k (part of Cosford ATC) said that they had to contact the rail operator to inform them to stop all train movements past Cosford during landing. The railway line past the airfield cuts across the glidepath for landings about 500 yards from the "piano keys", and the fear was that the wash from the C-17's engines would topple over the small sprinter trains that use the line!
