Hi all, got a backdated payrise coming my way next month... and once Winky has had his way, I imagine I will have about £800 ish to spend on a nice watch.

I am thinking a diver, and this has led me (through the usual thoughts of used Omega etc) to an ORIS Titan (at £890 on Jura).

I notice the size is 44mm, which I am a little unsure as to whether such a big watch is a good idea (I appreciate some get much bigger, but 44 is still big, no?). I've got fairly large wrists, so shouldn't struggle with it dwarfing my arm... but maybe something more subtle?

The answer to the above is clearly for me to try one on, but there isn't an Authorized Dealer in my lounge today, which is a pity, so I thought I'd ask the collective!

If I did decide it was a little oversized, what would be a suitable alternative? Longines Hydroconquest and some change?

Also, what would I expect to get in the way of discounts on some of these?

Or, I change my mind entirely on style and join the queue for a Stowa Marine Original with roman numerals!!

I have the 1000m version & they actually wear smaller than 44mm, so don't let that put you off.
The base may be 44 but the face is smaller, so that helps. However, they are quite thick & that probably stands out more than the diameter.

The one thing I don't like is that you can't really buy other strpas for it due to to the odd fitting. Shame really as I would have like to have put a strap on (the bracelet is now scratched to buggery).

I have the full lume 300m version and I totally agree with the above - it does wear a lot smaller than its size, I have 5 - 44mm watches and the Oris looks a lot smaller than the rest. Titanium also helps as iuts so light.

thanks guys, I guess I should really go and try one on! I did notice that it was about 10mm thick, can't really judge that without seeing one...
Are there any other watches along those lines/price that I should look at?

How much could I expect to get off one as well?

Thanks, unfortunately the two tone doesn't do it for me... but that is a pretty damn good price if someone was in the market for it!

I tried goldsmiths in Swindon today, as well all the others (E Jones, Beaverbrooks etc). Not a single one of them stocks Oris watches!

Whilst I was there, one of the Tags did catch my eye... but £1375 means an extra month of saving might be in order!

Now that is a big watch! At 10mm thick or whatever the Oris is it is practically slimline! Now I need to find a town that actually stocks them...Cardiff tomorrow, I'll try and find somewhere that has one..
Or, I'll at least ask them to show me a 44mm watch (of any brand) to try and get an idea smile

Some perspective... I found an image of a chrono version alongside the new 51mm Pro Diver

Now, that isn't far off a wall clock, surely?

Borderline taking the piss isn't it (and I don't like little watches).

If you liked that TAG, how about this:
