Any recommendations?

Mainly for cross country few decent hills, and mud. current OEM stuff is getting a little tired, lever a bit spongy too so will bleed it all at same time. So I can start being braver for one finger braking hmm perhaps.

On my 7's I always used Avid's own sintered pads - worked well enough, even in the alps with 203 rotors...

To be honest the avid originals are pretty good. Organic is fine for general UK riding and give more feel than sintered (which do last longer tho)

EBCs are inferior in everyway by a small degree. Not quite so much feel and dont last quite so long.

Fibrax. no no no. don't do it.

eerrrr, some people do rave about those cheap superstars but i've never tried them.

i think thats about the going thoughts....

I have these brakes and am using superstar pads they are 4 pack for £20 organic or 4 pack for £25 for sintered pads. Some people thing they don't last quite as long- mine are lasting at least as well as my original avid pads. You can mix and match pads if you have different bikes too. Superstars are definatly my favorite company at the moment and have been really helpful on a couple of occasions. ( No I don;t work for them!)

On the bleeding I would wait until you have changed the pads TBH.

TBH I've tried most of the aftermarket "uprated" ones and they don't work as well as the OEM ones.

I get through an simply stupid amount of pads, I can do 2 pairs a day on the DH bike easy so I started using superstar pads.

They're a fraction of the cost (like £6 a pair) and work, say 95% as well as OEM ones. The build quality isa bit hit and miss. In my experience if anything looks untoward (cracked or lifting braking surfaces) in the box send them back.

One aspect of them I do like is the organic compound is actually more like semi-metalic, It's organic with fleks of copper in them, meaning I can use them all winter without destroying them too quickly. I don't like the dead feel of full metalics.
