VALUE A PAINTING FOR ME...By Andrew Vicari

Trying to sell someone something,and into the equasion,they have a Painting by Andrew Vicari called Le Crepuscule Bleu.Can someone give me a ball park value on this please.

Other than it giving you a ballpark figure (£17,000,000/125 = £136,000 per painting), you're right, that's no help at all. The question you were actually asking was if someone could give you a ballpark figure for an Andrew Vicari painting...

I'd say it was a helpful start too. Although, that was a commissioned piece of work by someone with a lot of money, and doesn't necessarily reflect the price of individual pieces

If you were to look at a painting in isolation, for example the one below (called Whitsun Procession and is oil on board) you'd find his work can be reasonably priced.... this one sold for only 55quid at Dreweatts in Brizzle earlier this year.

It's pretty simple, really. Vicari has made his money selling his paintings to the Saudi royal family (at least £63 million worth). However, his 'normal' work just isn't expensive - the example I gave had an estimate of £100-£150. Some of his stuff doesn't even sell at auction, even though the reserves are in the £low hundreds range.

Seems a fairly simple equation. For the purpose of your initial transaction, it is worth 55 quid. Once it is yours you can sell it on to whomsoever you choose...

Now, where is that Saudi phone book!

Try selling A second hand Citroen and see how relevant list price is.

Try a proper art dealer.
