eBay's 'Print Postage Label' option - any good?

Just sold a few bits on eBay and there's an option called 'print postage label' which looks like I can print my own label + postage and the cost comes out of my Paypal account.

However, are there any advantages or disadvantages to this system as opposed to the usual way? Is there any difference in cost, or in seller protection?

Yes its fine, I have used it a few times and it works well, I think it's slightly more expensive than RM though

As I'll have to go to the PO anyway, is there any benefit in the extra cost, eg against chargebacks, proof of posting etc?

The subject of chargebacks is worrying, as it seems that a 'professional complainer' can take the goods, whine about them, then get their money back...

As far as I'm aware, it is Royal Mail, and exactly the same cost?

be prepared for a frown of disaproval from the local postmaster, and don't compain if the post office closes through lack of business... Pretty sure that if they don't take the cash hey don't get the credit

OK, well if anybody's going to make 50p I'd rather it was my local PO, so I'll do it the old fashioned way

You still have to queue up at the PO for recorded delivery anyway if yo use the Paypal option, don't you? Can't really see how it saves you any time, money or hassle?

You still have to take it and hand it in, yes. And of course you pay the counter staff rather than having it taken by Paypal.


NB: I noticed today that the Special Delivery 'before noon' service is now 'before 1.00pm'... not that it makes a great deal of difference but still more gradual 'slippage'.
