Hi,

I have been using Autoglym for years but I never use it on the windscreen, the wipers never seem to clear the screen properly after. So I was wondering what the best thing to use was or am I not using the Autoglym correctly, whatever I do I always end up with either smears and when it rains it smears the water rather than wiping it off.

Any help greatfully recieved.

thanks !

Are you cleaning your wiper blades as well if not then that will cause smearing ie clean windscreen being wiped by mucky rubber blades.

No I'm not I'll try that thanks,

I guess I could have asked the question another way 'Does anyone use AutoGlym glass cleaner on their windscreen, if so what’s the technique to stop smearing the next time you drive in the rain'

There's nothing wrong with AG Clean Screen....

as mentioned, make sure you give the blades a damn good clean and all should be well....

I apply a small amount via a detailing pad and the same to the blades, then I remove using a more abrasive flannel or waffleweave style cloth. No problems here.

Maybe you need to clay your screen to remove any debris and deep clean your blades with a decent apc (all purpose cleaner mixed 4 or 6 to one...water to product).

Which one? I've used

for years and it does a fantastic job. I find something like terry towelling is best to get it off but if it's been washed don't use fabric conditioner.

Wipers don't last for ever - if they're more than 12mths old then get some new ones for the winter.

Well its raining and I can confirm cleaning the wiper blades worked, so thanks !

I couldn't believe the amount of black crap that came off, I always used to run the leather along them but actually cleaning them took loads of dirt off. They move across the screen better too, but I guess you lot already know this.

Anyway thank you !

I used to use the Autoglym stuff but then tried the rainex glass cleaner - works very well and if followed by the rainex original water repellant I don't use the wipers above about 10mph.
