Hi there -

I dont seem to be able to reset or re-calibrate the runflat sensors on my 1-series.

Basically, the tyre pressure warning lights up red with audible beep on starting and will not go out.

Have tried the manual reset (scroll to the tyre signal on the computer, hold down for a few seconds) - this seems to clear the warning but only temporarily.

Manual also suggests that once the run flat warning has been activaed the system needs to be re-initialised - but i can't seem to access this on the menu. confused

any help mostgladly recieved - even if only to point me to a technical forums

Car is a 2006 120d sport.

Cheers all,

That would be my first port of call, check the pressures.

Once they are set correctly, you should be able to reinitialise the system.

No problem.......but it took the wife to figure out how to do it on my car lol!

I was simply passing on info that I'd gained from her, sad to admit!!

Hi Bergs

As far as I remember the only variance is how you get to the resetting mode ie via the left hand stalk or the iDrive menu type. Once you push and hold and the tick appears then that should be it done. It may be a problem elsewhere on the DSC system that is causing the problem. I will try and get a second opinion from the workshop.

That would be a great help.

i fear the former may be the case - are there any self disgnostics I can run?

What tread depths are on the tyres?

If you have uneven tread on the same axle it can generate the fault as the system works off the dsc /abs using the rotation speed of the wheel.

Thats a good call but would it cause a problem on such potentially small differences?? (cue someone with a slide rule to workout the rolling wheel circumference of both a cold tyre and one upto full heat!!scratchchin) That would put BM's into the realms of Lambo and tyre sizes causing the difs to fall apart!!
