Hi folks,

My 2007 Monaro VXR will not exceed 120 mph in 6th gear.
Is there a speed limiter or is there an issue with my car?

Many Thanks

AFAIK there is no speed limiter on Monaros. Will it exceed 120 in 4th or 5th?

Sounds more like top speed for 4th gear.

Speed limiter is set usually to 512 kmh.

def no speed limiter on my 2006 monaro vxr, 120mph dies sound about right for top speed in 4th for stock car, no offence but you sure you were in 6th gear? if so something does sound not quite right!

Auto car's test of KE05EHN in April 2005 achieved 152 in 6th and 163 in 5th. Given the big jump between 5th and 6th these numbers are surprisingly close. They quote rpms at 3430 and 5450 respectively but these are wrong because they are based on the CV8s gearing - presumably they calculated them and didn't read off the rev counter or other equipment. Assuming the speeds are correct actual rpms would have been 3850 and 6100.

120 therefore is way low.

sounds like 4th gear, change up!! No limiter on the Monaro as stated, only on our VXR8s

4th would still be good for 145 at 6700 rpm

6th gear is very tall, so at 120mph, you maybe are at such a low rpm it doesnt have enough grunt to go further.

6th is more for cruising anyway, most certainly not for high speeds, unless you have a few hundred or 1000+ bhp.

If it WILL only do 120, theres something wrong with it. It should fly up to that speed, especially in 4th (when you will be approaching the redline on the rev counter. If you are in 6th, you will be at about 3000 revs, as its geared for about 260 (which it definitely won't reach...). Theres no speed limiter on these as the others say.

Top speeds for the first five gears will be lower with the new diff.
