Just got back from a long drive, the first since I got my car back. Nipped down to Frankfurt (motorshow) via the Eiffel Mountains. 1,000 miles, 25mpg, de-restricted autobahnen, fun smooth German roads, nasty traffic jam around Brussels twice, some delays in Germany too. What a blast! It is rare that you get a chance to use the second half of the throttle pedal travel in 3rd/4th/5th gears in the UK. Not the case out there! I had forgotten how much speed my car piles on when you fully plant the throttle at 100mph.

I honestly can't think of another car I would have chosen for this trip. Long live TVR! (ahem)

Oh, and my car loves BP/Aral 100 octane

Problems you ask? Er, my aircon belt squeaks if I turned the aircon belt on above 3,000 revs (and I need to keep turning it off as the aircon is too cold).
Changes I'd make? I need more cool air around my feet as heat soak still happens a bit when in traffic. Not noticable on a short journey. Need to find a way to direct the aircon down there.

I have done a couple of simelar trips in my car.

Performed beautfully, and like you say, its great to be able to 'stretch your legs' on the fast German roads.

The Brussels ring road was also a nightmare for traffic, so that must be a regular thing.

I clocked 25mpg and wasn't hanging around, so thought that was pretty good going.

The 100ron is easily available too.

I fancied a pizza, so nipped to the Italian Lakes for a snack.

I my previous ownership of this car we have made several trips to the Alps and to the Dordogne, then many in my old Chimaera. The only problem on all these trips was my aircon electronics got stuck in the ON position back in 2006. Not exactly a big deal.

Same here. Biggest problem was a fuse that blew (due to a poor connection) on the power steering. That was with the T350T.

Its been around Europe a few times.

My 450 Chimaera only ever blew a rear light bulb. Other than that it was 100% reliable.

We have been all over the place and explored Europe. Its fantastic fun and we always had a great reaction from others on the road. (including the Italian police at the borders !)
