I'm planning a trip to Oz in November. Last time I went, 3 years ago, I booked it all through a travel agent who also organised the visa, which cost £15 and they gave me a piece of paper to stick in my passport.

This time, after a hunt on the net, I applied for an eVisitor visa via this address www.immi.gov.au which has been approved and says I don't have to do, or pay anything, and the visa electronically tagged to my passport number:

---

ABOUT YOUR EVISITOR
You have been granted an eVisitor. Your eVisitor allows you to travel to and from Australia any number of times over the next 12 months. On each visit to Australia you can stay for a maximum of three (3) months.

It is important that you comply with the conditions that apply to your eVisitor and you must not enter Australia after the date your authority to enter Australia ceases.

EVIDENCE OF YOUR EVISITOR
You will not have an eVisitor label placed in your passport. Your eVisitor and passport details are electronically recorded. When you check in to fly to Australia, the airline staff will electronically confirm that you have authority to travel to Australia. You are not required to present this email in order to travel to, enter and remain in Australia. However, you may wish to keep a copy of this email with you for your reference.

---

So, just looking for reassurance that I'm good to go? I assume the travel agent charge is just their 'administration' fee, but would hate to get to check in and find a problem!

Cheers

Nothing to pay, it was just a travel agent fee last time.
You just pick up the stamp when you land in Oz.
Simples.

That's how I recently travelled to Oz (I'm in Perth just now) so as long as your passport has been tagged you're good to go. Just to be on the safe side I went to a Quantas desk at Heathrow before flying to Singapore and asked them to check my passport. Thankfully the visa showed up but in the event that it didn't I was told I could still buy one from the service desk for £25.

Thanks guys, much appreciated.

I was just getting a little confused as there was mention of a $20 fee somewhere on that website, but I was never asked for credit card details. Was also a little confused about the tourist visa but now realise the only difference seems to be for a 12 month max stay rather than 3. Not the clearest of websites with new windows opening up all the time. I will take a print out of the email, but good to know it can be sorted at LHR if there's a problem.
