Was there a £100 note in the UK?

I am totally convinced that in the 80's or 90's I had a £100 note.

Am i nuts? I can't find any mention of one ever existing but some people i talk to agree that it did exist for a while so i am not alone..

I remember it being a kind of dark greeny colour, have I lost my marbles?

Not in England, no.

There were, and still are, £100 notes issued by the Scottish banks, though.

useless £50 and £100 note fact, the ink never fully dries on them, if your rub them on a white piece of paper they will leave a red or green mark depending on what colour they are.

I got told that was true of all bank notes- usually theres a coloured shape triangle, diamond etc which will rub. The only reason it doesn't work on the £5and £10s is that they get too much use (and same for the £20s these days)

As well as Scotland, Northern Ireland's banks issued/issue £100 notes.

I didn't believe that and went to check (I collect banknotes) tried a few & was surprised to see it was true!

Anyone remember plastic fivers from the 80's? Not sure if the inbreeders still do them!? Great in the washer though!

northern ireland has plastic fivers, we should too, fivers get disgustingly dog eared very quickly.
