Used to be free but not anymore. Between £300-£400.

What? Thats mental.

Bearing in mind getting the service done will save potentially save money from warranty claims they charge for it?

Naughty.

Well, if you don't have it done on time you loose your warranty.

I read somewhere that if you bought brand new, the supplying dealer may still do it for free. If pre-reg then you now have to pay.

Or cut it into the deal like I did.

would be the kind of thing i'd want to haggle into the deal, however in the big scheme of things a few hundred quid is small change compared to the depreciation in those miles

If its AUC there is no issue, i.e. shouldn't need to hagle anything in, if the approved used car requires a service within xxx mileage it will get one pre delivery.

The cost of the 1200 mile service has always been paid for by the selling dealer and not by BMW, if you went to another dealer for the service they billed it back to the selling dealer. I think a lot of dealers outside London got fed up of paying the high inner M25 prices and got BMW to make it chargeable.

Make sure you have it done within the mileage scale as like its already been said miss it and its goodbye warranty.

If your buying a used M3 / M5 check the service book before you part with your cash!

Mine was free.

It is important if picking up a used M3 to check that the service was completed in the mileage range.
When I picked my car up (new). I was asked to sign off that I was aware of have the service completed.

rang my local dealer up for the running in inspection they told me it was £450 so i decided to ring the dealer who i brought the car from and they said they will do it for free.
so result just wanted to say anyone who is thinking of buying one to get it fixed into the deal.

had my service done today said everything was fine driving back from dealer in derby and warning triangle comes up on the dash the engine oil level was realy low.

i ring the dealer and tell them whats happened they say take it to the local dealer who tells me that it needs a litre of oil £28.

what im asking is do a lot of these dealers even do half the things they say on a service and still charge the earth for it.

disgusting i think.
