2004 vxr exhaust

I have recently purchase a 2004 VXR 5.7 it has an exhaust upgrade with the straight through loud pipes fitted.
Sounds superb but very loud resonance at light throttle opening.
The car came with a milltek twin silencer, which I tried to have fitted. Turned out that the exhaust on the car has a bolted flange fitting at both ends, whereas the silencer has a bolted flange at one end and I believe what is called an eyeball socket at the other.
After a conversation with monkfish it seems that even if the silencer was able to fit, it would of only marginally helped the loud drone. I was told that it was an issue with proximity of the end pipe to the rear bumper as it is not quite flush with the edge.
Just interested if anybody else here has had this problem, and how they have solved it.
Also I now have a Janspeed silencer which apparently won`t fit my current exhaust. So time for ebay soon.
