Running short of hair to pull out.
Can anyone offer any advice please. PC running Win 98. Starting up but states ECSCDIDE.SYS corrupted and shows an error on line 9 on config (line 9 refers to ECSC etc.)

Opening all programmes, word for example, painfully slow.

Also if hit DEL on first startup it will not go to settings and just continues to load?

Any suggestions. Have Norton etc and fully up to date no virus detected?

Help Please......

ECSCDIDE.SYS is a CD Rom driver.

Try reinstalling it.

to get rid of the first error, just edit c:config.sys and remove the offending line (line 9)

as for slow, upgrade / virus scan / defrag / delete / get some spotty oik to come 'fiddle' with your 'box'
