VAG COM problems?

hi guys, i bought a cable from ebay for my S4, came with a copy of VAG COM, so i installed it all etc, and managed to get the vista version installed, plug the cable in, green light comes on so it all looks ok. Then when i try and set VAG COM up by choosing the correct port, (COM1, COM2, COM3, COM4 etc) it just says port ok on all of them, but interface not found? so it seems as though it's not speaking to the car. Anyone had this problem? I can;t seem to sort it?

Don't VAG Com have a help line?

Do you have an aftermarket head unit. There can be a problem with the "K-line" which gets a +12v signal when it shouldn't, which confuses things.

Is the adapter a serial or a usb one? Are you using a usb-serial adapter, got the right drivers? Which version of vag-com ?
