Right, we all laughed and chuckled at Badoers pathetic performance in the Ferrari and one of the excuses was he had not been in an F1 race for years and was not familer with modern machinery???

So whats Fisi's excuse? Mclaren look like they will pip Ferrari to that 3rd place in the constructors and thats partly down to Kimi trying to single handedly haul them up the table as the second driver is a waste of space.

Luca was miles off, he was lifting through Eau Rouge FFS!

Fisi is having a bad time, he's had little prep and can't get the car setup. This weekend Kimi also struggled. Give him time, he's unable to drive the car in any tests and that Ferrari is a very, very different car to the Force India which looks fundermentally sweet to drive

Was considering this at the weekend, and I'd have to say yes he certainly is. At Monza it was Fisi's first race in an unfamiliar car he had never tested and at Singapore both Ferrari's struggled.

Luca was last in a race his Ferrari team-mate won, so the problem obviously wasn't the car, I wanted Luca to do well, but it seems he just doesn't have what it takes anymore.

If Ferrari are competitive at the next race, I'd expect to see Fisi in the points.

Fisi is about half a second off I think. Badoer was between two and half seconds to fourty five minutes off.

So whats Fisi's excuse?
The fact he hasn't done hundreds of testing miles in the car like Badoer has.

Badoer hadn't done any testing since last year due to this year's testing ban.

No as in he is not better than Badoer.

And just as bad is he is of the same level.

Good point.

What exactly does a test driver do these days then?

There is some testing allowed and i assume they are supposed to be a reserve driver on the off chance of an accident.

Drive the car in a straight line for aero tests. No driving quickly around curves though.

Fisi is easily doing the better job - Luca was over 2 seconds a lap slower then Kimi whereas Fisi is more like 5-6 tenths behind.

Its also worth pointing out that as Ferrari test driver Luca had done alot of driving in the pre-season with the KERS on the car and Fisi hasn't. Personally I think that given he has been chucked in at the deep end and is being compared to a WDC-winning teammate with vastly more experience of the car and team he is doing a rather good job.

I have to agree with this. If Ferrari thought that he would be nowhere near the points then why bother using him? They need someone to finish in the points to try and keep 3rd place. My point was that Badoer had excuses, Fisi does not and not getting any points from now until the end of the season is as pointless as Badoer finishing last every race.

Fisichella is still coming to terms with a new car so to be that close to Raikkonen isn't so bad. Badoer had been testing this car for months so he has no excuse. I'm sure that Ferrari will admit that their qualifying in Singapore was way off the mark. They have a fight on their hands to finish third in the constructors now that McLaren seem to be back on song, well at least Hamilton is.

Thats the point some seem to be missing. Fisi has 3 races to do something if he wants to be remembered as a success at Ferrari.

Finishing 9th for the rest of the season out of the points will be seen as failure.

Feel sorry for Fisi, his dream of driving for Ferrari is turning into a bit of a nightmare. He ought to be looking elated, but I've rarely if ever seen him so dejected at interviews.

But as it's Ferrari, I'm afraid I take some pleasure seeing them in amongst the Force Indias and Red Bulls. Just how it is.

As an aside, Ferrari are now experiencing what McLaren have had for the last 2 seasons - one driver scoring the lion's share, the other picking up the occasional scraps. It's not good enough.
