As above really.

I have had no issues with the car (523SE) in the 2 years i have had it.

Saturday i was out & about, and i stopped to get some fish/chips, took 10 mins max. When i came back it wouldn't start... it turned over & felt like it was trying to fire, but didn't. Anyway i called the RAC and checked what i could myself - loose wire??

The RAC arrived after 45 mins(!) and when he asked me to try it...vrooom, started with no problems. Wtf..??
He sumised blocked/dirty filter or running to low on fuel. Anyway he followed me to petrol station where i filled up to make sure all was well..it was fine.

Until yesterday, again i was out & about, the car was running perfect.
Around 5 pm i stopped to see my dad, but when i arrived i realized i had forgotten something so had to go back.
This was no more than 2 minutes... car wouldn't start!!

RAC called again.... this time it wouldn't start for the RAC chap, he tried connecting his laptop but couldn't find the terminal..(??)
He sprayed some 'easy start' into the engine & it fired up fine for a few seconds, then back to nothing.

Sorry, gone on a bit here. Does this sound like fuel pump? If so, what cost am i looking at to get this sorted?

  • ******** annoying mad
Thank-you. smile

Had this on an MB C43 with the exact same symptoms.

In my case it was the crank position sensor that was bad, and once replaced everything perfect again. Just to give you an idea of where to start.

Turned out to be the fuel pump - it's the original at 12 years of age so can't complain.
