My Wife has a little problem with her 98 Z3MRoadster ,the back light bulb on the outside temp guage has stopped working and BMW are quoting 2 hours labour(£140) to fit a new one !!!! does anyone know how to remove the dial and fit the new bulb ?? thanks Simon

I had an oil temp gauge bulb done at my indi for no charge! My advise is find a good honest indi who values your custom. You show him loyalty and you will be rewarded with excellend customer service................if you chose a good one. I am sure someone on here would be able to advise you of a trusted local specialist.

I think I paid 20 quid at a main dealer for one to be changed yonks ago.

A few bits of trim need to be removed to access those gauges, but a professional mechanic familar with the Z3s should be able to whip those off (cleanly) in 5 mins, change the bulb and then refit the trim.

Thanks for the respnses guys , its one of the lower dial in front of the gearlever , been back in to see mail dealer today and they are insistung its a 2 hour job !!! going to have alook myself .
