What is the difference between the indications of check and record on a producer and what does it mean if they are ticked on both boxes?

If one is simply to check and the other is to record, but why are both ticked? What does a Producer do and prove? What do they check? Simply that a person has all the documents?

all it means is that when you show your docs at the police station the desk person will visually check your details and write the information down (insurance policy number and mot cert number) so that,if need be,these can be checked out at a later date, iirc.

nothing sinister to worry about mate, seriously ive had shedloads in the past.

yeah I have to produce after nice lady pranged me yesterday. I'm pleased to say I have all the docs right here, and that the breath-tester read a big fat ZERO.

Nice copper by the way. Just when I was losing faith, I meet a genuinely nice TC, and not just on PH.

Shame we can't get the speed limits raised a bit - then I'd be happier.

Nothing to worry about maven.
Just to check all is in order. The record box is there to write down insurance details. Usually you only tick record when there has been an RTA.
All that happens is that the details you supply are written into a HORT2 back at the nick.
This proves you were legal when driving.
If you do not provide proof by midnight on the seventh day then you get reported for failing to have and failing to provide the documentation.
As said though, nothing at all to worry about.
(Provided you have the docs!)
