Which Defender best for conversion?

Rather than fitting the usual 200 / 300 tdi for additional ful economy and DIY ease I'm toying with the idea of fitting an old TVR Rover V8 5 litre engine. Does anyone know of any restrictions / difficulties that I could experience and which if any Defender model would not be suitable?

If you are looking for a project I have a genuine V8 90 County that need's work, would benefit from a galvanised chassis, it's on a "D" reg.
