Is the car Left Hand Drive?
If not, how do you get a seat in that's far enough away from the steering wheel with that dirty great tube coming down onto the rear RHS floor of the car?
My seat is set right back, leaning over the 'shelf' above the diff - I'd need about 6" chopped out of my legs to get in with seat that was far forwards...?

The car is right hand drive and the seat cannot move far enough away from the steering wheel for a 6 footer to drive. If not, how do you get a seat in that's far enough away from the steering wheel with that dirty great tube coming down onto the rear RHS floor of the car?

With your seat that far back your head would be touching the top of any roll cage. As far as I know Steve has not had his legs shortened by 6" G
The cage was made to blue book Q60. The Diagonal across the hoop is a bolt in part and comes out when the normal road seats are fitted. With the diagonal in and a Sparco “Ultra” (think they have renamed it something else now) race seat fitted with the head rest against the bar it is OK for me to drive but would challenge a taller person, in an ideal world I would have it about an inch further back. The fibreglass race seat is obviously a lot thinner than the standard one. The hoop is slightly further forward and slightly higher than the standard TVR offering. This is because Q60 requires that you can draw a line from the hoop, over your helmet to something substantial(the engine) Again this would be challenging to achieve with a taller person.
As the hoop is slightly forward of the standard TVR part the main problem with the road seats in is passenger leg room which is easily fixed by sticking the ECU under the dash and fitting a smaller battery.
As said the picture is out of date. This year an additional harness bar was added to comply with the change in regs. It was made by Cadged who were in Melksham but are now in Frome. The guys there are annoyingly skilled and quite astonishing to watch. They appear to do nothing more than look at where a bar has to fit. Stroll off with a bit of tubing to the bending machine, and when offered up it always seems to fit perfectly, all profiled and painted.

Probabaly not as much as you would think. Put it this way, some of the ready made hoops and bars that are about seem a bit expensive to me for what they are.Rollover protection is a bit like a helmet. If you have a £50 head then Get a £50 helemet.

Yes, sort of. I got a pair of matching brackets with it which fix to the seat sides and turn underneath. Because I wanted to use the original holes I then bolted a flat plate across the brackets and attach that to the floor with bolts that line up with the original holes. So after making the brackets it does simply drop in. I also made some steel plates that spread the load under the car better as the standard arrangement of small washer is a bit rubbish.
To fit the seat where I wanted the front left hand side ( just to the left of my Knee) fouled on the transmission tunnel so I lifted off the cover and filed 3-4mm off. It takes about 5 mins to swap from road seat to race seat.
