vxr8`s awful blind spots especially changing lanes
Discussion
hi there just wondering if any other vxr8 drivers have had any frights like me when joining motorways or changing lane on o/s just about one hour ago i did when i moved out on to the outside lane on the dualcarriageway ,after checking my mirror and looking over my shoulder i was alarmed to see the headlamp beam from no doubt a shocked renault megane driver if i hadnt planted my right foot or i was driving a slug i was in trouble
since owning the car iv`e done this twice now what a silly billy

I've found that most drivers set the side mirrors so that they look down the side of the car (can even see the tail of the car).
The problem with this is that you do get a blindspot "over the shoulder" which can lead to the above situation.
I always set the mirror so that as a car leaves the rear view mirror's field of view it is just in the side mirror. You then generally find that as the car leaves the side mirrors vision it's right next to you.

The Pontiac mirrors are prob the best solution but another solution I've used on my Esprit, which has an even worse blind spot, is a couple of those stick on "blind spot mirrors" that are basically a convex bit of chromed plastic that sticks to your existing mirror.
Loads on ebay for £2- £3... not aesthetically ideal but a heck of lot better than having a megane, or whatever, shoved in your door at 70mph !
