645 - black wheels?
Discussion
Quick question gents. I'm in the market for an executive barge at the moment and the 645 looks like a good deal right now, I really only like it in black and am seeing what looks like a nice one later this week. I'd like to "angry" it up a bit though and was wondering if anybody puts black wheels on these machines? I had a look on google and around here and can't see any. In my minds eye a black 6 with black wheels, tinted windows and maybe dechromed should look like the batmobile - which can only be a good thing! Any guidance much appreciated!

Like you I've struggled to find pictures of black wheels on a 6 series. This E60 picture might give you some sort of an idea.
Have a look at the BMW gallery at http://wheelsworldwide.co.uk/gallery/ for some more ideas.

I'm not really a fan of the 6 series but I saw a black one on the M25 last week with tinted windows and matt black alloys. They had a very fine yellow pinstripe on the rim which was the only colour on the car. Sounds crap I know, but it looked very cool. The alloys were a 5 or 7 spoke design from what I could tell, with relatively fat spokes rather than the current trend for skinny ones.

I must admit they're not the nicest looking wheel or colour combination with the chrome and black!! I've seen some better results when customers have had the original BM wheel painted gloss black.
Gloss back works well on say an m3 etc it's aggressive enough to pull off that look. I think on cooking models it can look a little chav. Anthracite can look very smart and even OEM in some cases. Thanks for the replies lads.
I found a couple on YouTube, all in the States. I can definitely see the chav risk so I think trying to stay close to OEM is a good idea.
There's a guy in Dublin (where I'm based) who's apparently the bees-knees at powder coating them http://www.tallaghtpowdercoating.ie/gallery_wheel..... I think coating black a nice set of OEM's will be the way to go. I'll let you all know how I get on when I look at the car in the morning.
Also, a few of the youtube clips are of 645's with after-market exhausts
... have to add one of them to the list now too!

Many of the guys there have wheel / exhaust mods.
By the way, the 645 is no barge - it's comparatively light (1620kg) and the stability/grip was praised by road testers at the time. AutoCar raved about it - though this was with the optional dynamic drive system (which mine has..

).Cheers Chris - didn't really mean "barge" as such, but I'm planning on going the two-car route like so many on here with a smaller monster for the weekends ... and something "respectable" for clients! Thanks for the link to the forum, I'll have a look. The more I read the more it seems Dynamic is a must-have...
Well, saw the car and it's not great unfortunately: v. poor spec. (typical in Ireland), paint was a mess, 18" wheels looked lost ... and the salesman wasn't the brightest spark - thought my RS4 was an S4 and didn't think there was a difference between them except for alloys
