Am I missing something with my G15 or is it not possible to pass audio from an HDMI source via the optical out on the TV?

For example, I have a Virgin V+ box connected to the TV via HDMI and I was hoping I would then be able to connect the TV to my amp via optical and pass the audio that way, rather than optical from the V+ to the amp.

I was hoping to do this because my amp only has 2 digital inputs and I've now got 4 sources, PS3, Xbox, Streamer and V+.

Have I just missed a setting somewhere or is this not possible?

Thanks in advance...

If it's not possible, any recommendations on a new amp? smile

Lots of nice amps with 4 HDMI inputs for not much money.

I have a similar set up and having a single feed to TV is so much easier.

Cheers, any recommendations?

Wish I'd thought of that before buying a new TV that had 4 HDMI inputs...

Well around £300 I would think, or as close to that as possible.

I suppose I should start doing my own research.

eta: I've just seen the Onkyo TX-SR507 recommended on another thread.

I have an Onkyo 606, that was about £300 - maybe a bit more. Very happy with it. Handily, in winter, it'll also double up as a radiator.
