Do I need insurance?

For liability or theft or both? I believe some home policies will cover for both of those but not all (I think Direct Line Plus does). Joining CTC gets you 3rd party insurance I believe.

Depends on circumstances I guess, my most expensive bike lives at my parents house in a secure garage in a fairly low crime area. It only gets ridden in fairly remote places and never gets left anywhere. I've never bothered insuring it.

My other bike lives with me in a city, it only really gets left at my house and at work, but lots of bikes get stolen here and it only cost me £10 a year to add it to my home insurance policy (bike value of £400), it's a no-brainer really.
