Hedtec Helmets

Been looking at getting a full face helmet to replace the cheap Sparco clubsport one I've had for about 3 years now. It's done well, but isn't great in convertibles/Caterhams etc. and I'd like the extra protection a full face lid gives anyway.
Got an email from a company I use for trackdays (Motorsport Events) about these new "Hedtec" helmets. They look damn cheap for what they are, anyone had any experience of them?
I know one should always look to spend as much as they can on a helmet, but as I'm cutting back my trackdays to 3 or 4 a year (plus Nurburgring) I don't want to spend a silly amount. Be grateful if anyone with any knowledge of helmets and their technology could advise...

I got the email from Motorsport Events, my helmet is beginning to look a bit battered now, so I'm looking to replace it quite soon.

As you say the Hedtec helmets seem very cheap for what they offer but I haven't been able to find anything out about them apart from what's on their own site, so I'd be interested if anyone has any opinions on them.

Isn't the double D ring (shirly theres a few jokes there), a fairly standard fitting for helmets?

I don't find it a hasle on mine (A Kiwi!) for the 2 or 3 days a year I use it.

Yeah, my Sparco has that arrangement, and it seems fine...

IIRC seat belt type clips aren't as highly rated as double D's for safety.

IMO "proper" helmets should have double D-rings. I'm never a fan of those clip-in ones.

So 90% in favour of D rings. But looks like none of us have any idea about Hedtec.

I think Hedtec is a new brand created by MSE.

Knowing Ed and Tasha they would only sell good quality products, so I think you'll find these helmets do just what they say on the tin and you can buy them with confidence

I used to have a BS6658-A Shoei which had a buckle. Thatd be MSA approved until the end of this year, so no: I dont believe so.

Although a different design I'd say they come out of the same Chinese factory as the V2 helmets (www.v2sport.com), the price of the full face lid and spare visors is identical. I have a V2 and am pleased with it, so if these are similar should be pretty good.

Are the sizes comparable to most other manufacturers do you know? Just I would say I've got a pretty big head, and the Sparco open face that fits me is an M size.

I wondered about this, particularly because of the connection with Bell. Ive looked on the original manufacturers site and theres no sign of them, though...

Alas I can't be at the show as I am away on business. If you can't comment on the performance comparison, could you comment on the sizing? I still haven't bought one yet as I haven't yet bought the car to go with it!
