Straight cut box value
Discussion
Evening all.
I wouldn't normally do this, but I'm struggling and need some help. I've been trying to find a challenge box for sale on the web so I can figure out a suitable value for mine, but I can't seem to find one anywhere. I've got a challenge box, which was rebuilt before I brought it a few yeas ago, and it has done maybe 5,000 road miles since. It has a X pin diff and a set of 1:1 straight cut drops with it. Anyone able to give me a vague idea of value as I can only find "normal" straight cut boxes for sale anywhere?
Thanks for any help you can give.

I had a challenge box in an A rod case. They aren't so popular with road cars due to the super close gears.
I think I got about £300 for mine without diff or drops. It was virtually new.
X pin diffs go for about £120
SC Drops £120
I estimate that if you put it on the bay, you'd get about £400 for it all in.
Better to punt the diff/drops out individually and you'll get more.
I was a bit cross as I picked up a rebuilt SC box on the cheap and then resold it as it was a challenge.
Careful, as I don't think the market is as strong as it could be recently. I've seen competition stuff not going up that much.

Having had a look on thievingBay, there's normal ratio straight cut boxes going for £900 without drops or a X pin diff. I had thought it would be worth something near that with the diff and drops.
Oh well, best give it a good clean up and see what happens.
