Worting

Looking at buying a house in Worting near Basingstoke, anybody know what the general area is like? ie for scumbags, chavs etc not bothered about schools etc.

Views from Mrs SeeFive - not me as I do not really know folks in that area.

Worting is not the worst part of the Basingstoke area, but not the best. Worting also has some nice parts itself, and some less nice. Missus has a friend who won the lottery who had a house built there - that's a nice part.

The less expensive areas of Worting are filled with the type of people you would expect - a mix of salt-of-the-earth who have a vested interest in their property, and other types in the same street in housing association properties who wait for you to go out and burgle you.

Really depends on the road you are looking at TBH.

SWMBO is a bit if a snob. She says that Old Kemphsott Lane itself has some very nice older style houses, but you have the 60's overspill, low-cost housing of Buckskin between you and the Buckskin Road. This area (in her opinion) is not ideal, and some of a more nervous disposition might say a little unnerving after dark down by the little shopping precinct.

Unfortunately, I'd say that Buckskin is pretty chavvy frankly. If you go the other side of the Worting Road, along Roman Way it improves until you hit Winklebury.

Old Kempshott Lane is very nice - probably one of the better roads in that area. If I were you I'd PM srebbe64 as he is a little bit closer to that part of Basingstoke than me (my wife insisted we bought in the posh overpriced area)

Also, get in touch with ZR1Cliff as he knows Basingstoke like the back of his hand - he is a cabbie round here.
