If the nationalist government got a referendum to go their way on independence, then I could see them tackling sporting events. But it's a very big if that they would get a yes vote in the first place.

Not sure how much is being spent on the 2014 Commonwealth Games, but I suppose that would be an area which would be redeveloped and suitable for racing. Much like the Olympic village in London could turn it's sights to F1 after 2012.

Not since Bernie got his hands on the purse strings. eg European GP and San Marino GP, which isn't exactly within the "national" boundaries anyway.

San Marino is an independent state.

We all know that the national GP does not have to be in the nation after which it is named. Witness the Swiss GP at Dijon a few years ago.
However, this is a slightly different issue. Here we could see a GP called after a nation which doesn't officially exist as an independent nation or state. And, as has been said, the European GP could be held anywhere - preumably as long as it is in Europe (although I wouldn't put it past Bernie to have it in Swaziland)..
I can't think of any case where a semi-country has had a GP called after it.

As has been said, the British GP could, in theory, be held in Scotland (or Wales), given the construction of a suitable venue. But, for the moment anyway, it would not be possible to have a Scottish or Welsh GP - because of the official status of these two "countries".
