where are you staying?

its been a while since i lived there, but there are lots of islands to go and see plus go inland towards the border to see more rural HK life. Race track of course, The HK 7's (in March) and drinking dens a plenty.

the main HK island, you have Victoria Peak. From there, if you like walking and wish to see a different part of the island, take the Dragon back trail. it will lead out to a nice beach, where you can get a cold beer before the bus ride home.

I went for 4 days and it's plenty of time to see loads!

Peak (as suggested), I would say go at night!
Do the markets, night market, goldfish market and bird market etc!
Big buddah is good too but the cable car wasnt working a few weeks back however the bus ride is ok. (all aircon so its quite nice to chill out on the bus for the 40mins or so it took)

Don't do the bar that everyone talks about (is it the felix bar?) I went to that and it's crap. Go to the aqua bar (you can have dinner there too) ITS AMAZING!

Will try and think of more!

- Victoria Peak (sunset on a clear night is the best)
- The light show, watched from the Avenue of Stars area on Kowloon - TBH I didnt find it that impressive, but you get a nice view of all the skyscrapers lit up at night.
- Lamma is a nice island to visit, and is very conveniant, being just off the south of HK Island.
- Big Buddha and temples on Lantau, and if you want you can hike a couple of k's up from that to Lantau Peak, which looks out over the airport and surrounding islands.
- Macau if you want to gamble, otherwise I dont think its worth a day out of 4, there isn't many sights, and beyond that and the gambling it is very similar to HK
- Shenzhen if you want to spend a day shopping
- One of the two HK horse races, i've been to Happy Valley and it has a great atmosphere, once you work out how to bet you wont be able to stop yourself!
- Star ferry or maybe one of the ferry tours
- Wan Chai to see hundreds of fat, old Westerners walking around with hookers their wives

Take a sampan ride around Aberdeen Harbour. Just get the bus there and negotiate a deal with a boat owner. Very interesting.

Tsim Sha Tsui!

You already have one of the good spots in your very hotel.

The Oyster Bar at the top of the Sheraton is a great spot to chill out to lounge music and look over at the Hong Kong Island vista.

Felix is a bar and restaurant at the top of the Peninsula. It's great, the person posting about is being crap was obviously elsewhere as he seemed to be under the impression you couldn't eat there.

Lamma is South West of HK Island. Take the ferry to Sok Kwu Wan for the row of great seafood places, or to Yung Shu Wan that has varied restaurants of Japanese/Indian/Chinese fayre.

Make sure you purchase an Octopus Card for your travels around HK.

If you are looking for theme parks, I wouldn't bother! Ocean Park and Disney are the only ones I think? (Its been 3 years since my last visit)

Not sure if Mong Kok is still the place to pick up cheap electronic gear.

Dim Sum starts at 6am! lick

If you're there on Sunday, try the Intercontinental Champagne Brunch - book it though.

Felix is worth while too, even for a drink and a trip to the toilets.

RE the Felix bar, maybe I shouldn't comment as I didn't eat in there however as a venue compared to Aqua it doesn't even come close.

Has anyone else been to both that can comment as by the time I got to Felix I did have a few...drunk

EFA.

I did the authentic dim sum a couple of weeks ago - 3am in a traditional back street dim sum outlet full of locals, not a glitzy hotel restaurant with english speaking waiters!

OP: find a local or ask your hotel concierge where the locals go for dim sum, just avoid the chicken feet, its all skin and bone, literally.

brunch at the Mandarin is a relaxed way to spend Sunday morning. A stint in the Captain's Bar is also mandatory.

You should try the thai style chicken feet! Just skin wink
Although TBH I pref the Dim Sum in London.

Oh if you do try Dim Sum (where the locals go) make sure you rinse your cups, bowls and cutlery (chopsticks) with boiling hot water. Don't worry, it's normal there! They will even give you an empty bowl to put your used water in.

It is also normal for them not to give you any Serviettes so make sure you buy a 12 pack of Tempo Menthol hehe
