Guys,

Currently got a hardtail which I use on the road as a second bike. Rear mech is bust, it's a 2007 SRAM X.9, but since it's not used much I was thinking of getting hold of a new (or newish) 2007 or 2008 X.7 mech, much cheaper. Not too fussed about the quality really, leave the good stuff for my proper bike.

Question is, is it a straight swap to for a X.7? Of course they are both 9 speed, but I read about 1 to 1 ratios etc, but I am a Shimano guy, so not sure smilesmile

Yup.

X5, X7, X9, X0 all cross compatible.

No worries.

Perfect thanks.

I assume they are also compatible across years i.e. 2007 shifters work with 2008 rear mech yeah?
