yo, after spending all of 23k on my vxr8 am looking to do something with that pointless standard exhaust. vauxhall say the wortec system is better than the walkinshaw? im thinking of the power pack and the bi-modal which appears to cost about 2400 from walkinshaw.

good idea?

cheers

The Walkinshaw on the VXR8 is definitely quiter, less metallic and deeper than the Wortec on a 6LVXR. FOr what its worth.

Not sure which "Vauxhall," you spoke to as they told a different story to me. While sitting on the fence they said "It's your choice (as they would fit either anyway) and it comes down to noise or quality!"

I wont say which one applies to which but I think you can work out which is which.

Maybe im slow. Most on here swear by Wortec and i thouhgt viewed the Walkinshaw option as cheap and cheerful. But if by noise you mean louder, in bimodal form it is not. walkinshaw themselves admit that at small throttle openings in loud it is no differnet to in quiet, and at WOT the bimodal is quiter than the Supercar version. So if you are referring to Walkinshaw as the noisy one then I would say no way except possible for the supercar version.

Then again maybe you are saying the Walkinshaw is a quality piece of kit and the wortec is just loud.....

Good Grief, why are we talking in riddles? Surely it's not offensive to have an opinion?!

I'm trying to decide between the Bimodal and the Wortec, and this has just confused me further!

We went cat back and then headers(both Wortec) and yes there is a big difference in sound. Beautiful raspy, popping sound cloud9

Sorry guys if my message appeared confusing. To clarify, the Vauxall mechanic boys reckoned (not me as I would barely no one end to another) Walky exhaust was very well made and the Wortec one was prone to the odd problem and not made of as good material.

However when it came to a sound test the Wortec was much louder and so that was the route I took.

Interesting. Since the Walkinshaw one is cheaper..... It is quiet at gentle throttle openings and in car at motor cruises, but still loads of fun at WOT with the windows down, and from all accounts for following cars. I was told that driving behind me was a liability as all oncoming cars stared over their shoulders to see what it was/what was making the noise as they veered into the oncoming traffic......

Mmmm. Did he make that up? Wortec is exhaust is 304 grade stainless steel. Not sure anyone makes exhaust from something better, unless its titanium!
