You know who you are

If you were interested in that cottage, surely you'd either know or "investigate" the area so it's not like the power station would be an "unknown" for too long or am I missing something?

Perhaps you aren't from the area. Perhaps you don't use the internet much. Perhaps when you see property details you would at least hope that they provided a true representation of what you were getting. Not a massively skewed one. Is that too much to expect?

I think it is too much to expect, yes. The EA is trying to sell you something, ergo he's not going to summarise thge negatives is he?

That would be silly of him.


Disclaimer: I don't neccessarily agree the EA is doing the "right thing" but I can see why they do it.

It's not as simple as that. EAs are required to adhere to regulations regarding their advertising.

I'd say that clearly, they have flouted points 2 and 4.

If, as you appear to imply, they were left to their own devices regarding their advertising - the example in this thread would be one of thousands, and what little trust the general public had left in the profession would vanish in the time you could say glow-in-the-dark.

Most EA's are bent. It's a fact.

Just today "we" corrupted one with the offer of a few quid to "win" a sealed bid property that we had been outbid on. It happens. As does misrepresentation.

It's in the purchasers interest to do their homework on any property and not rely on the agent who is working for the other party anyway.

So how did you know you had been outbid?

Are you chums with the EA? I think it unlikely an estate agent would be so dumb as to advise random sealed bid "losers" that they had lost out.

And if that were the case then you would also be bidding against other losers...

When I phoned to ask "How it was going" I was given a negative response.
I then called into the office to discuss the matter with the boss, who I sort of "know".

The rest is pretty obvious.

Places there fetch big money, very sought after by artists as second pads from London! Also major RSPB area so lots of birdwatchers.
A pair of railway carriages made into a bungalow there sold for 180K a few years ago.

Fantastic location, in winter very bleak & solitary.
