e46 headlight auto-levelling

The headlights on my e46 m3 are pointing way too high. They were OK until about a week ago. Now I'm getting people flashing me at night.

When I was changing my brakes at the weekend I noticed that inside the driver's side wheel arch is some kind of gizmo, like a black box the size of fag packet, with some kind of hinged lever coming out of it. But the lever's not connected to anything!

I'm presuming this is the gadget that works the headlight levelling system, right?


Does anyone know where I might find a diagram or photo that would help me try to put it back together?

I've searched realoem.com and the net generally but haven't been able to find anything useful.

you can still move your lights down buy turning the adjuster on top of your lights its only small but it does work.
