There's not much room up there, and not much money in the bank, but can anyone recommend a projector lift?

We could just build in a ceiling box, but it'd be nice to have everything neatly concealed.

I looked into this two years ago when I bought my first (of many biggrin) projectors. I found the cost was equal to the 1808p PJ I was buying at the time, so looked into DIY before giving up and simply using a bookcase at the back of the room for that authentic 'the projector is behind you' like a real cinema effect. Only issue is that the room is 6 metres long and that limits how small the screen can be from that far back (started with 120" 16:9 diagonal, before more recently getting 112" wide 2.35:1 screen). I've seen some DIYT versions using strips of metal to create the scissor jack mechanism, but you'll need plenty of patience to construct something.

If I find the link for the DIY version I'll post back later.

My dad has one at his place, about a grand if i remember correctly. They do seem expensive for what they are!

Its silent, has a ncie cable routing system and hasn't had any problems in the 2-3 years he's had it. I can check the make for you but im guessing your looking for somethign a fair bit cheaper?

Currently work as sales exec for a company specialising in commercial digital display installations.

cheapest i know of is
http://www.smartmediasolutions.se/en/Products/Proj...

comes in around the £550 mark which is cheap for the market

next cheapest i know of is around £110 and then upwards- some very very very cool ones for about £3k- like a flip down mirror where a very small portion of the ceiling drops a couple of inches and reflects the image through a set of mirrors on to the screen. Or for just £2k you can have a system that rotates the projector james bond stylee out of a ceiling recess.

Agree that they are very expensive installs for home use- but a lot of this stuff gets used in board rooms and the like where cost isn't the main driver.
