My 2.4JTD has developed a klunking noise (technical term?) in the front offside hub area under hard acceleration. The local garage diagnosed a worn CV joint, so we replaced it. The noise is still there. Does anyone have any ideas?

On mine it was the engine mounts. You may be able to replicate it by opening the bonnet and pushing the top of the engine as hard as you can (while it's switched off!).

I'd go with wishbone: top or bottom, ours eats 'em for breakfast, thanks to the feckin' speedbumps around here mad. Might need bolts tightening, might need a new one

Thanks team!

It really does sound like a cv but obviously isn't (unless its an inner CV??). Had the o/s wishbone replaced already.

The noise is like a rubbery, rotary, flapping noise, but only when its booted hard. In normal driving its . . . well, normal!

The car has been remapped so its putting a fair bit more torque through the transmission than normal, but even so the problem is only very recent and has'nt been there since the the mod.
