are they worth it?

having the s2000 as well which has the best gearbox ever.will the rip shifter improve the throw and speed of the gearchange to make it worth getting it done?

The Ripshifter is seriously worth it......had it on my old CV8 and it was such an improvemnet on the old sloppy gearchange. Now finally after having the VXR since Jan I've got the car booked into the Fish to get a ripshifter put on my new one along with a few other 'toys' biggrin

Do you have a Ro or VXR8? The gearchnage on the R8 is almost as good as with the Rippy on the Ro. Not sure if a Rippy on the R8 moves the game on even further though.....

I have the race ripshift for the R8. Fitted it myself.
Its a little bit noisey, but not too bad. Way firmer and more precise. But not the same percentage improvement as the older models.
I still think its worth it though.

Apparently the billet shifter as opposed to the rip shifter has shorter shifts but the rip has a better recentralisation spring.

Are your Rip Shifters the same product as a billet B&M Rippershifter? I have a B&M, the stick is tongue and grooved to the shaft if you know what I mean.

on the ro, which has a throw as lose as a welsh valleys girl, the answer is yes its a great upgrade. Having also recently sold my s2k I am surprised you want to modify the VXR8 changer as it is not that bad at all. On the ro I could justify the expense to change, on the r8 no chance.

I had the billet short shift on my r8 .............didn't last long, could not put up with the clunking and the rattle........

no! i cant get near the car sometimes for all the people taking pics and then talking to me for agesbiggrin

and slarty.i have just been out in the s2000, the gearchange is twice as quick, but the brakes are not as good and the clutch is far heavier than the r8 which is a bit odd[the clutch that is].

the 8 has a lot of assistance. YEs the 2k has a great gear change no doubt but the r8 isnt that bad in stock form. From memory its as good as the ripshifter on my ro so thats why I have no intention of changing. If it aint broke, dont fix it
