Hi chaps,

So picked up the new car on Wednesday afternoon and just wanted give a quick review on how she drives and feels so far. I will post pictures soon, once she is clean..

She is an A6 3.0TFSI Quattro S-Line....in Aventurine Blue pearl effect, with Black Valcona leather.

Exterior
When I purchased the vehicle, I was not 100% sure about the colour, as there were not many around, however seeing how many Black, Silver, Grey cars are out there, I thought this would be a little different. The colour seems to match the car well, especially with the chrome trim. It has the 19" alloys, which are the smaller version of the RS6 alloys and look great. The S-line touches are subtle, however gives it a more aggresive look. I do like the rear LED lights and this one has the front DRL's, just like my old A5.

Interior and tech
The first thing I noticed is the great build quality, my A5 was fairly well put together, however this does feel in a different league. The interior feels luxurious, with plenty of space. I did find the seating position a little high, however coming out of the A5, where I had the seat on the lowest setting, makes everything else feel higher! The position is good however. The steering wheel could do with being able to go a little higher also, I just need to get used to this.

All of the steering wheel function buttons are as before and everything well laid out. I like the way the MMI screen displays any adjustment of settings (like heated seats, ventilation) on the side of the screen, as opposed to taking it over, that is a good touch. The voice recognition is superb. and you don't need to actually record voice tags, let the bluetooth transfer your contacts and your good to go.. I will be doing plenty of playing around with this in future...The privacy handset in the armrest is handy, especially when you have the children in the car talking at the same time and want to speak to someone from the car, as a passenger, rather than have it go through the speakers..

Mine is fitted with the 6 CD and the DVD plus HD. I have to say, the DVD playback is pretty good on the little screen, the kids seem to enjoy it..The audio system is good and have to say on par with my old B&O system. Then again, I would expect the acoustics to be better in this car, rather than that of a coupe. I also like the jukebox function, where you can download music to the HD, very easy to use. The size of the boot is incredible, it can swallow some serious gear..was very impressed was this.

How she drives
The actual ride is fairly compliant for a big car, you can certainly feel the S-line suspension through some of worse roads and does not feel spongey or soft, but very smooth. I certainly can't feel much bodyroll, however not really pushed her too much yet.. I did notice quite a bit of tyre roar on the motorways, again I experienced the same on the A5, as that also had the 19" alloys. The brakes seem to be good, however you can feel this is a heavy car, I hope the brakes will perform better, once they wear in more.. Steering feels a little light and could be better weighted, but not a major concern..

The engine itself is pretty outstanding... In normal drive mode, you can just waft around with no care in the world, however move it into sport and this car is a different beast..it just goes and sounds quite nice. Have used the tiptronic a few times, which again feels quite good, however need to exploit that a little more. Pretty impressed with the performance so far, however I don't really want to go too fast in it, sounds strange, but quite like the relaxed drive in this car. Maybe it is me moving back into the auto from a manual...

So far so good...

When I got my A6 3.0TDI Quattro I was the same with regards to wafting along, on the trade in I bombed down in my old car, and wafted back at a leisurely pace, I didn't feel I had to get back that quick I was enjoying the car too much, I'm still finding things on the car I never knew existed. Have you found the little hooks in the boot yet for hanging shopping on?? Great idea! hehe
