i have been noticing relatively cheap ArnageTs for £40k with 40kmiles lately.

I have a porsche 993TT S here in central London as a daily driver. I was thinking why not add a ArnageT to the garage (street parked) sure they handle better all the potholes and speed bumps we have here (SW area).

What do you think of the idea? What to look for, and what trouble should i expect? As of maintenance are we talking S-class/7series costs or higher?

Thanks all for any info. Greatly appreciated.

Good choice though very large for London driving and parking. Running costs are in a different universe when compared to a German saloon.

awesome car though. I would love one. I would go for black with cream leather and piano black wood lol, if only.

Fabulous car and with the right engine. I am still saving for mine but they are coming down in price. Sod the size, I always managed to get my Turbo R parked in London and, look around, you see enough of them in town.

Unless you are going to drive it hard out on the open roads in proper hooligan fashion, the Arnage R might be a better bet, the R wafts, the T doesn't. Less is more.

it's just that i'm in love w/ Arnage T, black/black interior...the mix of "checkered" leather and the polished aluminium inside is simply magic!

I would use it only for London driving: supermarket, tennis club every other evening, restaurants...nothing more (only short distances).

I would guess 5-6,000 miles per yr.

Any pointers on the costs for this? Anyone here does the same?

But when you put it into "sport", floor the throttle and hold on tight (that's what the steering wheel is for!), the T is something else!

It is true that you see a lot 2002-2003 Arnages including Ts for around 60-70K USD on autotrader. So basically you are saying that the T is not as comfortable as the R ? Was thinking it would be nice to maybe retrofit Ipod hookup. In terms of servicing I've heard they are unbelieveably expensive even compared with the continental series. Are there any major differences between a 2002 and 2003 ? What about 2003 and 2004 or 2005?

2004 onwards is the face lift model.

Actually it's the 2005 model that's the facelift. Although the very first ones where registered on an 04 plate.

Prior to that the specs didn't change that much.

Saw an R on an '04 plate the other day, facelift model, all the bits and pieces, split rim alloys - loads of burr walnut, picnic tables fridge and crystal decanters etc. It was absolutely minted and gorgeous, though I must say to the owner's credit it had been looked after.

Not sure of the current value but that's what I would buy.

I have a Red Label in NY and it is good on the bumpier pot holed streets (much worse than London) and easy to park here (not considered all that big really, and street spaces are not marked out so take as much space as you like). However in London I'd go for something even softer like an older Bentley - Brooklands, Eight or Turbo R and save some money and get as good an effect.

However in your situation I'd get a Bristol - narrower, rarer and just as classy. If only I could get one over here.

I've seen a couple around on the net: T can be had for as little as 35,000...very attractive, slightly higher mileage, yet to me it's not important as long as it has been well maintained.

Do you guys think it is reasonable to plan on £5-6,000 maintenance per annum for a car w/ 50-60,000 miles? I'm looking at driving it only in London and put on it 3-4,000miles per year.

It's got to be a T for the quilted interior...otherwise i will look into a Range Rover Supercharged - might be more reliable

That maintenance/service budget is going to be more than adequate, unless you are unlucky and very bad things happen. I would have reckoned on about £1500 - £3000 a year. I doubt very much that a RR would be more reliable.

The only big service is the hydraulics at 5 years or 60k miles. A Bentley dealer will quote about £4500 but in my experience they will haggle down to about £3500 which is the same as a reputable marque specialist. Other than that your budget is more than adequate.

Beware the Range Rover, according to the recovery boys they seem to have a reputation for breaking down on the road.
