It seems nearly every time i go out for a drive i am either tailgated, cut up or they want to race, just picked the wife up today 3.oclock taking it easy 55mph( motor way) as with the wife its like driving miss daisy ,got some muppet in a audi A4 soft top right up my asxxxx could not been more than 1ft,in it any slows down a bit as wife getting worried then he desides to pull along side me ,this muppet is not a boy he,s in his late 30,s early 40s any way he,s got a smile like the joker in batman as we are coming up to the roundabout he is so intent on looking at me he goe,s stright across the roundabout and nearly hits someone else,it doe,s my head in some times as all i want to do is go for a drive (chillout) and you quite often get stuff like this happening iwish sometimes i had i set of sidewinders on the griff then i can blow these no brainers away ,WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF ANY BODYELSE HAS HAD THIS HAPPEN TO THEM. MAY BE ITS JUST PART AND PARCEL of HAVING A GRIFFITH

Might not have anything to do with the car. He might have been trying to suggest you use some punctuation when posting on PH. biggrin

I find most tailgaters are trying to read the badge to see what it is.

I used to worry about numpties being too close, but now i just think they are curious about the car and let them get on with it.

I braketest anyone up my arse in the daily cart though, with an appropriate hand gesture that they are too close.

I had a Garda Car with two Garda in it up my bum one night,so close that i thought they were going to take a tailpipe apiece.this went on for a couple of miles and was getting quite dangerous, when i said close i mean seriously close,it was getting to the stage when i was about to say F*** IT and hit the brakes when i saw the Garda's eyes light up in the passenger seat and he reached for the mike and i could see him mouthing my reg through to the computer operator to get the make.......

I hear what your saying when you're wanting to relax but as mine's a second car used mainly at weekends/evenings I'll be honest and say I'm the other way around - never anything of interest on the same roads whilst I'm out. I love bumping into other quickish stuff just to have a bit of fun, ( fast fun not reckless stupidity ). It's just nice to lead or follow and often show drivers of so called sports/drivers cars what there missing. Last one I met was an early Evo III one evening heading out of Leeds on the ringroad towards M62. I think he got a bit of a shock!

Yes,i get this at times also,it is annoying because if you do have to brake you know how its gonna end,the saving grace is i know the roads quite well out this way so i bide my time and let rip i have yet to have anything come pass me so far including the twisties gets silly when you have wkers in Vectra's and Mondeo's and the like giving it large though,i mean get real rolleyes do they think four of my plug leads just fell off or similar laugh not something i make a habit of but if your really getting concerned pull in and wave em past whistle

A friend had the perfect answer to tailgaters. His old Triumph GT6 had a spark plug at the back of his exhaust, he used to switch off his engine for a few seconds and than switch it back on and actuate the spark plug, tailgater enveloped in a sheet of flame! Would not work with fuel injection and he used to get through a few back boxes but he felt well worth it.

Ahhhh a better class of numpty - favourite eejit wagons in these parts are mostly (but not exclusively) Audi's or VWs. Usually the newer oil-burners as well which for some unknown reason the owners seem to think that their lumbering, Bravarian, 2 tonne, oil burning, carbon belching junkheaps are:-

1) Quick, which they ain't!
2) Handle, which they don't!
3) Make them driving gods, which they certainly are not!

If I could be a*sed then I give them a short sharp lesson. But to be honest I usually let them go on their own blistfully ignorant way.

It happens to me all the time, and frankly I welcome every enthusiast to tailgate me, to race me, to sprint me on a crosslight and to wave a goodbye after he losthehe

It happens to me from time to time too. Most of the time, as has already been mentioned, it's to try and see what the badge says - particularly when I'm in Hungary, as TVRs are not known in those parts.

If it's some idiot pushing for bit of a go and it's annoying me, I'll just button off on the gas and let the car get slower and slower and slower, until they get fed up enough to pass. I have tb prepared for a few unfriendly gestures as they go past - but what do I care?

I know what the car is capable of - that's why I bought it. I didn't buy it to give some idiot a cheap thrill.

Yep, happens a lot to me. Because I've driven TVRs and Lotus's since I was 20 and am still in my 20's I get a lot of race attempts. Generally I just burble along in my own world and leave them to it. If they get too dangerous I generally pull over and let them pass.

One of the very few times I was heading round the Godstone roundabout near the A22, with a convertivle A4 with 2 balding 40 somethings in it. Lights are red, lots of revving from the Audi, lights go Amber up to 4000rpm with the V8, lights go green, Audi stalls it, I drop the revs laugh at him and pull away th 30mph.

Just leave them to it.

I agree. Sometimes I think it would help to have a big TVR badge on the back.
