Heads Up!

One of the best drama mini-series I have ever seen is coming to Channel 4.

It's abit like Band Of Brothers in concept but set in the invasion of Iraq, personally I think it's even better than BoB.

The atmosphere and acting are just superb. Also the use of sound is sublime.

Everyone should watch this.

Seconded, it's very good indeed. For those of you pining for some decent telly after the conclusion of The Wire, here is your answer.

I wonder if they will be showing it on 4HD ?A great series, full of the same sort of humour and themes as The Wire.Bob

I watched it on FX earlier it in year but confess I did so while surfing and doing other stuff so didn't really appreciate it properly. I think I might give it another go.

(Even with only half my attention on it, I enjoyed it. Another recommendation for anyone looking for intelligent TV following the end of The Wire)

Didn't realise this was a HBO miniseries, it's definitely on record now.

Fantastic Mini-Series. Have it on DVD. Hopefully they will play the "extras" documentary where you get to meet the actual marines (except for "Fruity" Rudy Reyes - he plays himself in the mini-series)

Band of Brothers was my favourite until this one. Now, I can't decide.

Hah, just saw the trailer and was about to start the same thread.

Just. Watch. It. fking brilliant.

Glad a terrestrial channel has signed it up while it still has some relevance...

Its brilliant.

Much less gloss and nostalgia than Band of Brothers, (although I love BoB too). Its got a rawer feel, no soundtrack (one Johnny Cash song final episode) real moral ambiguity, doesn't tell you what to think.

Like the Wire you have to bear with the quickfire script, language and slang/acronyms.

Like BoB you have to get past the first episode which isn't as engaging as the rest.

The portrayal of the relationship between Brad Colbert and Ray Person is great.

Some genuinely shocking and funny moments throughout.

Shame for the missus really. She was relieved to no longer be a "Wire Widow"

Mind, I suppose this is weekly right and not straight through. As you were! hehe

If I am correct, the people who produced this also did the Wire which was great.

Why is this on at stupid o'clock? I had a meeting first thing this morning so couldn't stay up till 1 am. A show this talked about should get a 10 pm slot or be shown on the weekend.

I sky plussed it and have just watched the first 45 mins or so on my lunch break. Enjoyed it, looking forward to watching the rest later.
