I have aproblem with the front suspension on my E46 330ci coupe, i have jacked it up and there is a lot of movement,i know it could be the rear wishbone bushes, would it be anything else like bearings or wishbone balljoint, the car is a 2001 plate.

Cheers

With a car of that age it could be a number of things. I would advise getting it checked professionally if you are unable to do it yourself.

I have recently had my control arm bushes replaced. My car is a 2001 E46 saloon with 58k on the clock.

The wishbone ball joint comes with the wishbone. If you're changing one side you may as well do both as far as the bushes are concerned as they come boxed in pairs. If it was my car I would change the two wishbones at the same time. I've got a 2000 330i and if it shows any signs of wear at the MOT early next year it will get a pair. If its non m sport suspension then I can supply a complete kit (both sides) for £295 + vat. Would cost £450 + vat if bought separately.

This is an easy job to do. Just invest in a ball joint splitter and i think 16,18mm spanners and sockets are required. I bought mine for £40 each side and it took less than 3 hours to do both sides.

Rear bushes on those front wishbones are very common. Are available in stronger polyurethane without housings for about £45 per car set or with housings for about £90 a set. Check eBay for Powerflex BMW bushes.
