Evening all,

I need a reliable/experienced builder to carry out some wall/chimney/roof repairs. Looking for recommendations as I had made appointments with 6 builders to come and look at the job today in order to provide quotes and only one of them turned up!

Cheers.

Are times hard?

Builders, plasterers etc have to be the most arrogant people in the world.
(Not all before you hang me).

Why make an appointment and then not keep it?

You should name and shame.
Start a list here of people to avoid!

As for a builder sorry cant help hehe

My old man worked with Chris for a fair few years back in the day when he was self employed in the plumbing trade. Really nice bloke who'll do you a good job if he can fit you in, but as usual with the good ones he's a pretty busy guy.

I'll try that number tomorrow, thanks thumbup

I would've thought they'd be keener for the work as well, particularly as I really don't care how much its going to cost as I've got a heritage grant waiting. I made appointments with 6 knowing that at least one wouldn't show, but for 5 not to bother coming is ridiculous.

I only need 3 quotes for the grant but I find that the impression I get from the builder is just as important as their price which you can never tell from the ad.

I won't name & shame but will happily post a recommendation after the works have been finished.
